View Information About Folder, Sub Folder Size, Modified Date, Attributes With WExplorer [For Windows 7 & Later]

Window Explorer is if the basic need of our system. It has provided us a large number of options so as to make our work more easy and convenient. The numerous available functions helps to locate each and everything. But still for few specific purposes, we have to use add – ons to improve it. We have reviewed various tools like Chameleon Window Manager (to specify location of console), Cubic Explorer (another similar browser), QTTaskbar ( to add more features) and many more. Similarly, WExplorer is a similar to Windows Explorer but provides you detailed information about the files and folders.

Wexplorer is a very small freeware of 83 KB only. It is a portable freeware. It is similar to windows explorer for the convenience of the user. The additional features helps you to know about the memory space occupied by each file and folder.The snapshot below displays the user interface of the utility.

There are two views: Tree View on the left and List View on the right. To view the memory allocation to each file and folder in the pie chart format, click on the first option (pie chart) in the toolbar. The various colours will help you to differentiate easily. Another additional options is we can view the memory taken in Bytes (B), Kilobytes (KB), Megabytes (MB), Gigabytes (GB) and Terabytes (TB). You have to simply click on the required options in the toolbar and the results will be displayed as shown below.

The other features include to view the last modified date (along with time), file type and attribute. You can use the options like “Command Window Here”, “Create Folder” and “Create File” simply by a right click and select. You can also double click on a folder in pie chart to get the details (folder size) about it. Also, the copy, move, rename and delete options are available. These were the options provided by the tool. It is most efficient for the users who have to keep a track of the folder size and the memory allocation.

Though the tool provides a large number of options, there are few important options which are not available in the browser. Like there is no search option. The user is available with only Tree and List View, the thumbnail view and other views are not available. Few other options are also missing.

The freeware has been tested on Windows 7, and is compatible with Windows 95 – Windows 7.
