Speed Up Downloading In FireFox With Fire Download
Advertisements
I am a firefox lover because I use Firefox more than any other browser, but downloading speed normal in firefox is really slow, as if you download the same set of file through a download manager will download the same set of file with in lesser amount of time with much greater transfer rate.
But don’t worry as you can simply achieve the same download speed as you can with any download manager like Internet Download Manager with a small firefox add-on called FireDownlaod.
FireDownlaod lets you supercharge your downloads with some accelerating technology working at the back ground.
Note: Some of the users also reported it blocks the download from some sites so may need to disable it when it does.
But as I have tested at my end it surely increases the download transfer rate some times so my suggestion would be, you can try at least if you want to see the boost up.
Requirements: Requires Firefox 3.0 or greater.

Don’t recommend this app.
I DLed Fire Download and Firefox stopped downloading files. It would just freeze up. Once I unchecked the “Accelerate with FireDownload” box my browser resumed downloading normally. I’m using browser version Firefox/3.0.6
It crashes whenever I download word files or Powerpoint
This doesn’t work with Torrent files half of the time. It’ll download them fast, but perhaps parts of the file aren’t recombined properly before being fed to the Torrent program, and it’ll say the file is invalid. Had to disable it to download my Torrent files.
Firefox v.3.0.11 firedownload 1.1.5 doesnt work at all. Maybe because im using a socks proxy but it doesnt do anything at all when click on a download link. Hope it’ll be fixed soon.
i have tested this many times, with all files types for pc and mac. it works perfectly.thx.
In my case, fire download doesn’t stop download… it already downloaded 432 MB of a 175MB file… Does anyone have the same problem?
Firedownload does download a part of the file but freezes afterward…
most of my files downloaded thru filehosting sites like RS/MU/HF etc frooze haveway while i used firedownload though the initial accelaration seemed to be surprisingly high……and….

i recall experiencing the same problem u had…
here the possible trick which might have been used in FireDownload’s code to seemingly accelarate the download speed…
taken a file which usually takes 20 mins to download say a 50mb file…
firedownloads presents a initial high download speed then purposefully hangs the download for a specific time then resumes it so that the file would still take 20 mins or more to download…
in short it a clever trick in the code that possibly makes it appear like a DL accelarator but it may only be a dl manager
