As per my experince, On my friends computers, I see lot of system tray icons which appears in system tray and occupies much more taskbar space and user have no idea why there are so many items loaded and shown up in system tray, the main reason behind the bloated taskbar with large number of system tray icons is the programs which users install automatically add them to start up and get loaded every time windows starts.

When ever a program get started on windows startup, its loads its icon in system tray, and waste taskbar space with so many icons as shown below. Hide System Tray is a freeware program which lets you hide all the icons in system tray as shown in the image below

This Application will remove the System tray in the Taskbar of Windows 7. It should work also with other Windows Versions but only tested with Windows 7 (x86 and x64 by the developer, we have just tested this program in windows 7
