Remove or Delete A Word From Live Writer User Dictionary

I have been using windows live writer from a long time, its now my primary blog editor for all the posts I write for different blogs in our network – Technixmedia. With time I had added many custom words in windows live writer user dictionary. if you are wondering how to add a word in custom user dictionary in live writer, you just need to right click on the unidentified word and then select add to dictionary. Now lets consider a scenario in which you had added some wrong words with wrong spellings by mistake in user dictionary in live writer, then how could you remove or delete those words as the next time you type them again with the same typo mistake live writer will not show then as misspelled words.

In order to remove words from windows live writer dictionary, you will need to navigate to the folder path where these user dictionaries are placed and manually need to remove the word.

User Dictionary Path For Windows Live Writer

  • For Windows Vista – %AppData%\Windows Live Writer\Dictionaries\userdic.tlx
  • For Windows XP – C:\documents and settings\<username>\Application Data\Windows Live Writer\Dictionaries\userdic.tlx
  • For Windows 7 –  C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Windows Live Writer\Dictionaries\user.dic

Open these dictionary files in notepad and manually, search the misspelled added words and remove these words manually, as this is the only way out right now. It would be great is some live writer plugins developed for the same purpose.
