Printing the list of files and folders is very difficult in Windows Explorer. If you want to do so, then you will need to go to MS-DOS and by using various commands you can print you folders and their subfolders name. But if you don’t know how to work in dos or if you don’t want to spend your time in firing some commands in dos and then take print out of your files and folders, then you can use a tool called FolderPrinter.
FolderPrinter as the name suggest is a tool, using which you can take a print out of all the names of all your folder, files and directories and that too from your installed printer only. Not only printing, this tool will even allow you to save the list in form of a text file so that you can use this file for future references for finding where your hard disk space went or to even read list of all your saved files like MP3 list or your important documentary files.
When you install this tool, the only problem is that it doesn’t create any desktop shortcut. So you will need to create a desktop shortcut or pin it to taskbar on your own, from the start menu or from the location where you have installed this tool. When you will run this tool, you will see a window as shown above.
Now the first thing you will need to do is to select the drive whose list you want to print. You can select drive from top left corner of this tool’s window.
Once you select the drive, then you will see all files and folders present in this drive. This tool will show your files and folders separately so as to increase the readability. If you also want to print the size of your files and folders, then you will just need to mark Size option which is given just above the list of your files and folders.
You can also change the title of your print page. By default it is shown as FOLDER PRINTER. In the bottom you will see various options to adjust your printing fonts. Indentation will allow you to select number of characters which you want each item of your list should include. Next is printer. This option will give you all your installed printers. Select the one from which you want to take the print out. Next is Printing Fonts. Use this options to change the text font for your printing document. And to change the font size, use the option Printer Font Size.
Once you done with all the setting, click on Print Files List. Alternatively, if you don’t want to take a print out now, you can even save this list as a text file by clicking on Save to File. The path to Save file is shown at bottom and you can’t change this path. This tool always save your file in that particular drive or folder whose list you want to save.
To close this tool, click on Exit button located on bottom left. You can see a example below to see how it save the list of all files and folders as a text file.
The size of this tool is 1.8 Mb and still it will not take much time to get installed. This tool is compatible with all the versions of Windows and has been tested successfully on Windows 7- 32 bit edition.
