Make Default Windows Search Much Faster – By Routing The Search To Faster Search Tool – XP Only

Advertisements

I have used default windows search in vista, xp and windows 7 and as per my experience, it is very slow and really not the best way to find a file quickly as it takes hell lot of time and hangs very often. Microsoft MVP – Mr Ramesh Srinivasan has created a simple utility called RerouteXPSearch [ For XP Only ]. This small application allows you to re route the start menu search to any third party search tool you specify.

It is very easy and simply application you just need to run once, run this program and browse and locate the installed third party search tool executable. You can use the faster third party search tool like Everything, The Search Man etc

Unfortunately this utility is designed for XP only, I hope developer is going to build a similar utlity for windows vista and 7, till then you can refer this amazing tutorial to speed up default windows search in vista

It can still make sense to change the link in the start menu as well as there are definitely users out there who do not use hotkeys at all. Reroute XP Search is available at the developer’s website. via Technix. [...]
