The ‘Hacked by Godzilla’ banner is merely a symptom. It’s like the headache you get with flu. Take some ibuprofen and it goes away but the flu virus is still there and you’ll feel sick again tomorrow.
It does sound promising but these worm files are invisible and if they are still there they will continue to infect any external drive you connect, so it may be best to assume that the virus is NOT fixed and follow the steps anyway.

@darryl – make sure u remove all the infections by godzilla virus – then your computer is fixed – or if you have followed our procedure properly then ur computer is fixed.

I had Hacked by Godzilla on my internet but my brother took the computer and downloaded/installed Mozilla firefox. Now on the Mozilla internet I no longer see Hacked by Godzilla, is my computer fixed?

After downloads(both progams);
I had trouble to access HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and HKEY_CURRENT_USER.
Finally I simply pressed window + R keys simultaneously and opened regedit, where i found these foldes and than follow the instructions.

I am actually free of this bastard message

You forgot nummber 1 and 2:

Under Advance settings,
check “Show Hidden files and folders“,
—1—> uncheck “Hide extensions for known file types“, uncheck “Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)”<—–
and click “OK” button

Hello,

I have followed the steps succesfully untill I faced step 5.
When I checked ’show hidden files and folders’ there were none by the name of autorun.inf and MS32DLL.dll.vbs.
Is this a problem? ‘Hacked by Godzilla’ is gone, but is only the name gone or has the virus been deleted?

First thanks, this method has been a gem for me twice now! (Any tips on PREVENTING this virus from re-attacking?!)
Secondly, for those who stumbled at step 3. I also tripped up here and would suggest double checking the two parts of the step. First you are deleting MS32DLL from
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \Software \Microsoft \Windows \Current Version \Run
and then you are removing the ‘Hacked by Godzilla’ title in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \Software \Microsoft \Internet Explorer \Main

Be sure you are in
‘HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE’ for the first part and
‘HKEY_CURRENT_USER’ for the second.
