There are times when your internet connection breaks very often due to several reasons like faulty telephone line, physical disturbance or some other issues, In such case if you want to find out the overall health of your internet connection in terms of Status, Health & Stability, you can do it by running the free microsoft Internet Connectivity Evaluation Tool which checks your Internet router to see if it supports certain technologies. You can use this tool on a PC running either the Windows Vista or Windows XP operating system.
The tool is intended to be run from a home network behind a home Internet (NAT) router. Running this tool from behind a corporate firewall or on operating systems other than those specified above won’t produce accurate results. This tool requires administrator privileges to run.
Follow the procedure to run this test to find out the health of your internet connection. Please note that IE6 or later is required to run the Internet Connectivity Evaluation Tool.
1. Go to this page to run this test, now click the checkbox which says “I have read and ACCEPT the terms of the License Agreement” as shown in the image below.
2. Once you click the continue button, you will be redirected to the new page where this test runs as shown in the image below. You will again need to click start test button to now start the tests as shown in the image below.
Once you start you will see a series of test running including basic connectivity test, network address translator type & traffic congestion test. All these tests evaluate the different connectivity aspects of your internet connection, the last test named Multiple Simultaneous Connection States Test. Passing this test indicates that your router robustly supports multiple computers or programs accessing the Internet simultaneously.
Once all the test are complete and your computer passes them, you will see the congratulations message, with a link to view the detailed report on how all the test went as shown in the image below.
