Today most of the new applications and programs are equipped with a options to change the transparency level. This options is very much appreciated over world wide. It not only looks cool, but even is very handy if you want to work on one applications and simultaneously want’s to peek over the other. Like for example you are reading something online, and simultaneously want’s to keep eye on Gtalk.
So now you can also add this transparency effect to any application or window by simply using a tool named Peek Through. As the named suggest this tool allows you to add transparency to any window and then you can peek through other windows by making current window transparent. It is a very nifty utility and best part is that it is absolutely free to use.
This is the main window of this tool. The four different options available on main window are Hot Key, Transparency, Options and About. I will explain about each of them.
1. Hot Key :- This option allows you to choose a hot key which is required to use this tool. Hot key is just a combination of two keys from keyboard, which acts like shortcut to access this tool. You will need to press this hot key on that particular window in which you want to add transparency affect.
So as you can see in above snapshot, you will be given two drop boxes from where you can choose combination for hotkey. By default, the hot key is Wnkey+A but from drop boxes number of other options are given and you can make any desired hot key.
2. Transparency :- This option will allow you to customize the transparency level of any application. Simply click on this option and then you will see following window.
You can move this stylus to any part to adjust the transparency settings. There are six different levels of transparency given from High to Low. So you can simply customize to any level.
3. Option :- The various general settings of this tool can be simply configured by using this option. The various options given here are as follow.
So as you can see in above snapshot, there are two checkboxes available. Put a tick on Start on System Launch if you want this service to run automatically whenever you boot up your system. This will make this application to run every time in the background. You can also put a tick mark on option Allow click through of transparent window, if you want to click on visible part of other window lying under current transparent window.
4. About :- In this option developer has just added the version and web link from where you can read more about this tool.
Once you are done with all the settings, simply click on Activate given on bottom right and then you will just need to press Hot key to make any of the window transparent.
The size of Peek Through is just 119 Kb and as usual it will create a start menu shortcut which can be used to access this freeware. This tool is compatible with all the versions of Windows and has been tested successfully on Windows 7 Ultimate-32 bit edition.
