3+ Ways To Prevent Stop FireFox To Display Suggestions, Bookmarks, Favorites In Recently Typed URLs In Address Bar FireFox

In FireFox 3 one of the new feature introduced is the new location bar or revamped address bar which will display the suggestions of sites when you type any website URL which was previously accessed with in firefox.

But some people don’t want firefox to behave like this for some reason, if you are one of them then we have 3+ ways to prevent the firefox from displaying the sites suggestions from your bookmarks and recently typed URLs history.

Stop Site Suggestions In FireFox Address Bar    

Open FireFox and type about:config in address bar and press enter, press the button which says I’ll be careful and then type the following     

browser.urlbar.maxRichResults and set the value to –1 and restart firefox for the changes to take effect.

Stop Recently Typed Websites URLs Entries In FireFox Address Bar

This means when you type the URL in the address of a previously access URL it will show up suggestions to auto complete the site URL

Open FireFox and type about:config in address bar and press enter, press the button which says I’ll be careful and then type the following     

browser.urlbar.matchonlytyped and set the value to False

Stop Bookmarks From Appearing Inn FireFox Address Bar History

This will prevent your bookmarks from appearing the firefox address bar when you type related URL in firefox address bar which also exists in your bookmarks

Open FireFox and type about:config in address bar and press enter, press the button which says I’ll be careful and then type the following     

places.frecency.unvisitedBookmarkBonus and places.frecency.bookmarkVisitBonus and set the value to zero.

Just in case if you don’t want to play with about:config in FireFox there is also a addon available for the same purposes mentioned above

Distrust – This firefox addon lets you hide all your surfing trails that leaves behind, once this extension is installed and turned on it will remove firefox history items cache and cookies so that to avoid them showing up in the firefox address bar.
