Simbolic RSS Alert - It is a FREE simple application for monitoring RSS feeds. It is very light low memory consuming application which sits in your system tray and monitors different rss feeds which you specify.
The main purpose of the application is for users who don’t need a complete RSS application but would like to know when a couple of feeds have changed.
This application is really use full when you want to monitor some feeds like latest cool freeware’s released, new Microsoft products released or when you want to monitor some of the official google blogs like Google Reader Blog, Google Blog, etc which does not offer subscribe via email option.
Symbolic rss alert application allows you to customize the interval for checking for new updated feed items on the feeds which you specify ( as shown in the image below ).
As shown in the image above, I have set the time interval as 5 minutes in my case. Right click on the application icon in the system tray to play with the options and features.

I have been using computers for about 5 years now, till now my harddisk storage size has increased from 40gb to 160gb as the number of media files like songs movies , downloaded flv videos and other documents and files have increased a lot.
So, with the increasing number of files and documents leads to duplicate files and documents over the entire hard disk across different drives, but recently I found a cool FREE application called Easy Duplicate Finder which finds and remove duplicate files ( as shown in the image below ).

We are seeing the same windows icons for years now, till now almost every one including me are bored with the same look and feel of windows icons for my computer , network , internet explorer and folders etc.
Lets give them a different colour with Folder Marker ( shown in the image below ).
Folder Marker is a free utility which can allow you to change the color of any windows folder , you can assign any image-coded-icon to any folder so that it can easily catch your attention among various other folders (as shown in the image below ).
Above pictures shows some of the folders of my C: drive, out of all these folders I have given a different colours and icon to all my important folders using Folder Marker.

We have received so many problems from the readers on Troublefixers.com when they insert pen drives into their computers it got detected but doesn’t show up in my computer.
But yesterday night we found a utility called Desk Drive solves this annoying problem as it creates the shortcuts dynamically when a a portable device like USB drive inserted and detected in my computer.
You can easily selects the media for which you want the shortcuts to be created ( as shown in the image below ).

Last night I was listening to a podcast by Jason Mayoff with Shankar Ganesh - both are writers for makeuseof.com , During their conversation they discussed about different browsers like Safari , Firefox , Opera in their podcast.
I heard Shankar said: he really likes the smooth font rendering in Safari, I would like to second that, as I also like the smooth font rendering in safari but in firefox font appearance is really worse as compared to safari.
But then I thought how can any one rectify the font rendering issue in firefox to some extent.
There can be two simple ways to render fonts smoothly in firefox which I found is to enable cleartype in firefox.
For those who don’t know about cleartype
ClearType is the Microsoft implementation of subpixel rendering technology, aiming to improve the appearance of text on certain types of computer display screens, especially LCD flat-panel monitors.
Let me just show you how the font renders without and with cleartype.
